Cari + Taahir’s Fall Wedding at Knowlton Mansion

When it came to this Cari and Taahir’s awesome fall wedding at Knowlton Mansion, it was filled with lots of love and traditions. We love when our couples infuse their cultures and personalities into their day. It really makes the day that much more special and memorable. And we just love exploring different cultures and traditions. We were so excited for Cari and Taahair’s wedding day even since their super fun Philadelphia Navy Yard engagement session.

Taahir started his day getting ready with our team of Brian and Matt capturing him and his groomsmen and family. Meanwhile Al and I were at Knowlton Mansion with Cari and her bridesmaids and family. When we first arrived, it was raining pretty hard. But luckily the rain stopped so we could do their first look and wedding portraits with just the two of them outside. It was all still too wet to do their traditional western ceremony outside. But that’s okay because it’s not necessarily about the setting of the ceremony. It’s more about all your friends and family involved and the couples love that matters.

Wedding Traditions

Cari and Taahir’s fall wedding at Knowlton Mansion was filled with 3 different ceremonies. And there were a number of dress outfit changes. They started in the white wedding dress and suit to do their first look and photos. Then there was an outfit change to Cari’s red dress and Taahirs traditional Muslim outfit for their Nikah. The Nikah is a traditional Islamic ceremony that was attended by their immediate families. This was our first experience with photographing a Nikah ceremony. It is always such an honor to capture such spiritual and important moments.

After some family photos in these outfits, Cari and Taahir changed back into the white wedding dress and suit for the traditional Western ceremony. Even though it wasn’t outside as planned, it was still super sweet and you could totally see the two of them beaming with love.

Once the ceremony was completed we got another round of family photos and this time included some with their wedding party. I just love the bridesmaids dresses. They looked fantastic. And of course with all those beautiful flowers from Vault and Vine it just added to the wonderfulness of the day. And their final ceremony was during the reception. This time it was a traditional tea ceremony. Tea cermeonies are always so awesome. The couple gets a ton of little red envelopes and the bride always gets some beautiful golden necklaces.

Party Time

After all three ceremonies, the couple was able to relax and have fun with all their family and friends. Finally it’s the time to dance the night away during the reception. They had a couple of fun surprises during the reception including an orchestrated dance from their wedding party. But my favorite was Cari’s surprise for Taahir with traditional Chinese lion dancers!!

It is really cool to capture moments like these that mean so much to our couples and their families. We feel such a connection to Cari and Taahir and we’re so blessed we were chosen to capture this important time in their lives. We had such a blast the whole day with them. These two are just so much fun! Taahir is constantly laughing and making silly faces. It always lightens the mood and Cari with a giant grin on her face all day long. And Cari is such a beautiful bride. We can’t thank them enough for choosing BG team and we know they have a lifetime of laughter and adventure together ahead of them.
