Philadelphia Winter Wedding at Ballroom at the Ben || BG Productions Photos + Video

We were sooo excited that Jan. 13 was finally here. We first met with Nikki and Jim (known to his friends as Griff) just about 2 years ago. We photographed Nikki’s cousins wedding (you may remember Jodi and Alex’s wedding). She fell in love with Jodi’s wedding photos and video and just knew we had to shoot her Big day! And we are so glad they chose us! We just Love these two. From that first moment to their engagement session at Longwood Gardens, to their venue walk through meeting. We knew we were in for a great day at this Philadelphia winter wedding at Ballroom at the Ben.

We started the day in South Philly (which would later see the Eagles beat the Falcons advancing them to the playoffs). Nikki was getting ready at the home she grew up in. It was so awesome hanging out with her and her family during her wedding preparations. This beautiful bride-to-be was just so excited about her wedding day and was all smiles! Our lead associate team was with Griff and his guys all getting ready basically right down the street! The couple was married at the lovely St. Richards Church.

While the day was very cold, we were so thankful the rain from the night before stopped. Nikki got a permit for photos at Race Street Pier (something for future brides to think about… a lot of landmarks or “touristy” areas require permits for wedding photos). Unfortunately being that close to the water on a cold windy day made it WAY more cold. But everyone took it in stride and you did not hear Nikki or Griff complain about the cold even once! They just kept smiling away. And Griff was looking Awesome in his green tux. He wore a traditional black tux for the church wedding but wanted something fun that reflected his personality. And how Gorgeous did Nikki look, especially with the cute little wrap.

After getting some fantastic photos we headed to their reception location – Ballroom at the Ben

Everything looked Amazing and the staff was wonderful to work with. And with the Eagles winning the game during their wedding and the band Masquerade keeping the dance floor full, the party was hopping! It was great that all the Eagles fans got to watch parts of the 2nd half of the game on their phones. All over cocktail time (which was 90 minutes and extended a bit due to the timing of the game) were groups of family and friends around phones cheering on their home team. When they won, it was electric and perfect timing for the introductions into the room. Nikkis’ grandparents had the best introduction. They acted like they had to come in on walkers and then tossed them aside to boogie on the dance floor. Too funny!! And the food created by Finley Catering looked SO GOOD.

They also had the BG Booth during their reception which was great! Melanie, one of our shooters, was busy there all night and the guests Loved it!! There are some super fun photos! Our props for our BG Booth are always a big hit.

We had such a wonderful time and were so excited to spend such a special day with Nikki and Griff. They are the sweetest couple, as are most of our clients! We are enjoying seeing all the great photos they are posting from their honeymoon in Thailand!
