DIY Mountain Dale Farm Wedding || Molly + Clement
First thing that comes to mind: WOW! What a perfect DIY wedding and the perfect couple for BG Productions. Molly had actually found us when she was getting donations for a fundraiser foe the Southern Poverty Law Center last year. (Of course we happily donated a session and attended the event.) And then she reached back out to us about photographing her wedding, and we’re so happy she did! We loved capturing Molly and Clemet’s amazing boho, laid-back, super fun wedding!! We drove up to Mountain Dale in McClure, Pa and totally enjoyed being out of the city for 2 days chilling on a farm! Everyone was so Awesome to work with and it felt more like just hanging out with friends! This weekend getaway Mountain Dale farm wedding was so unique!!
Here is what Molly wrote as an inquiry describing their Big day!!
“Clement and I met when he was my Airbnb guest 2.5 years ago. He’s a French guy who was working in Germany at the time and was just vacationing in the US and decided on a whim to kill time in Philly. We dated super long distance for a while and then he moved here last June. We got officially married in November for visa purposes and now this wedding is our actual celebration where we say vows.
Our idea was to get friends and family together in one place to have a relaxing adventure of the type that Clement and I enjoy – outdoors, wild, tech-free, with some outside-the-box element. We wanted to see everyone in a relaxed way so we decided to do a 2-night getaway (Fri-Sun) to this working farm in McClure, PA. On this farm they collect buildings that will be torn down, take them to their property and convert them into these really cool cottages. The land connects with PA state forest land with hiking trails and there are cows, sheep, geese, chickens, etc. And guests can help with the farm chores. We had the grounds to ourselves and cook, eat, relax, square dancing all weekend long. Guests came from the US, Canada, Germany, and France.
There is an “event barn” on the property and that’s where our wedding celebration took place. This barn is a beautiful and filled with unique and interesting knickknacks and old furniture. I’ve made all of the decorations mostly from stuff I found at Resource Exchange and Circle Thrift. Things like flag garlands made out of fabric samples, fake flower garlands, signs made out of old maps, etc. I tried to keep colors within nudes to pinks to taupes to mauves. The style is boho bordering on super zany since it’s just whatever crafts came out of the imagination!
We are having our guests play a game after dinner where they have to complete 3 silly activities and get stamps in these little passports. (This was so much fun!!) then a dance party. Amplified music must end at 10 farm rules!”
Not Your Typical DIY Wedding
And everything turned out just perfectly! Even when the peacock pooped on Molly she didn’t even get upset and seltzer water took it right off! All their details were a perfect reflection of who they are as individuals and a couple. And their cat, Poppa Smurf was their flower girl. Seriously so adorable. She is a bit old and had to be carried down the aisle, but she was certainly a Star!! One thing we thought was super cool was they did a “water ceremony”. Everyone brought water from where they came from – even Germany and France, and poured it in a big tub. Everything was just so personalized. I Loved it!!
