Germantown Cricket Club Wedding | Activist Wedding Photos | Debby & Kenny
People find us for Philadelphia wedding photography in a variety of ways. Often through referrals, wedding blogs and sites and Google searches. The way Debby and Kenny found us is probably my favorite. Last year, my friend Larry Krasner was running for District Attorney of Philadelphia. At the election night celebration, I was taking photos, as I did often for his campaign. Being able to provide photos and some video documentation of his campaign was a major way we contributed. It was through these photos that Debby found me, which lead to us shooting their amazing Germantown Cricket Club wedding.
We love that so many in the BMO family share our strong democratic and progressive ideals. We believe all people should be treated equally and fairly. And it’s all our responsibility to work towards that goal. So, we were super excited to capture Debby and Kenny’s wedding at the Germantown Cricket Club. Their wedding date also was a day of major protests against Trump’s immigration and separation of family policies. If we hadn’t been shooting a wedding that day, you would see us there protesting and documenting. And if Debby wasn’t getting married that day, she would be there holding a sign and protesting also. Her Maid of Honor even made a special sign for us to use during our photo sessions for activist wedding photos. It’s definitely a new take on the iconic “Broad Street shot.”
Summer Philly Wedding
We began their day getting ready at the Sonesta on Market Street. Then headed over to Rittenhouse Square for their first look and portraits. Philly was right in the middle of a heatwave and it was VERY hot! But we stayed in the shade, moved slowly, and made sure everyone was drinking enough water. And when it came time for their outdoor ceremony at the Germantown Cricket Club, it was a little cooler, thank goodness!
The sweetest moment of the day was the father-daughter dance. Debby’s dad was recently admitted to the hospital and had to get special permission to be able to attend the wedding. During that special dance, there was NOT a dry eye in the house. Including my own! This was such a beautiful moment for everyone to share. The whole night was filled with love, laughter, and a ton of dancing! We are so honored to have captured this Awesome wedding. And Huffpost Relationships shared their photos with their protest sign! HOW COOL!!
